Awh Cruella – our first fabulous movie we watched on a big screen in a theatre after a long year of lockdowns and streaming on Netflix!
The Ultimate Fashion Show
The movie is a captivating tale with a display of dazzling dresses designed by a notoriously nonconforming and talented girl, Estella. She had a dream to become a fashion designer but turned her ambitions into a villain Cruella de Vil with a goal to upstage her boss, the couturier, known as Baroness at every of her parties and fashion events. You know the rest of the story! If you don’t, this is a must see movie for costume fans to enjoy the dramatic show with an opulence of party fashion bashes.
This ambitious movie production reportedly included 47 costume changes from Estella to Cruella, and 33 of them for the Baroness! However, we’d rather focus our attention on Cruella’s loud and avant-garde punk style that triumphs over any of Baroness’s outdated looks of 1950’s styles.
So let’s get inspired for this Halloween season by Cruella’s killer dresses that leave you awestruck and by her persona that steals the attention! When you wear her costumes, be ready to pose, radiate the vibes with flamboyancy and confidence.
The Outrageous and Larger than Life
A particularly larger than life gown is so voluminous that it covers half of a car as Cruella looks down amused from its roof at curious paparazzi. Interestingly, this dress was embellished with more than 5,000 handmade petals!
Another our favorite crimson Flame Dress resembles a cluster of flames – an amazing creation of an Oscar-winning designer Jenny Beavan.
Cruella wears this Leather Skirt Suit at the Black and White ball in a glossy two-piece leather ensemble, a fitted jacket with puffy statement shoulders and a sleek skirt, complete with tulle-accented gloves and high-heeled booties. “I want to make art and trouble,” Cruella says with her authority stomping around with her intimidating cane. That was her motto!
The Motorcycle suit is a star with its dazzling, sequin-encrusted pants topped with a square-shouldered leather jacket.
And we love the surprise appearance of an outrageous Garbage Truck dress, the 40 feet long gown that Cruella is dragging on the road while getting a ride on the back of the garbage truck. The dress was a saucy satire of outdated Baroness’s collections!
Last but not least, The Dog Coat is a magnificent black-and-white, broad-collared fur coat with front buckles and a full, asymmetrical skirt . With her appearance in the coat, Cruella leads the Baroness to believe that she killed her Dalmatians that she so much adored. In reality, it was a prank – a good thing, the fur was a fake.
